Where's the Love? Wednesday {6.29.11}

What I'm loving this week...

Max officially has a birthday buddy.  We got to meet baby Landon yesterday.

Congratulations, Nate and Carrie.

We think you should keep him.

Grandpa letting Max play in the fountain...while I'm dropping off cupcakes...at a very nice golf club.

Some people were probably thinking, "Who let the riff-raff in?"

Max gettin' dirty outside.

He's so much like his mom.

If you know me at all, you're laughing right now.

Birthday Boy

 At 1 year you...
make loud noises, sway back and forth when Mommy or Daddy sing, bear-crawl, love stuffed animals, enjoy being outside, don't miss a thing, love phones and remotes, pull food out of your mouth and look at it, say dada, mama, nana (we haven't figured out what this means yet), baby, and ga, and hate getting your diaper changed.

We think that you...
will be very determined and very loud.

We call you....
Little guy, big boy, Max, Hooty, Maximilian, Baby Max, mister, and Buddy

We hope you...

use your determination for good someday, stop throwing your food and never stop growling.

Happy Birthday, sweet, little Max!  We love you so much and have enjoyed watching you grow.

Max's Party

We celebrated Max's birthday on Saturday with some family and friends.

We managed to get pictures with the grandparents.  Unfortunately, no pictures with the friends.  Bummer.

The cake.

The smash cake.

For my brother and sister's viewing pleasure...and anyone else who may care.

I don't think Max realized that the cake was for eating...

...until Wes handed him a fork.

I think it's safe to say that Max finally got over the messy hands part.

Sunday Snapshot {the lake}

Max had his first lake experience today.

Max's least favorite part - the life jacket.

Max's favorite part - the water......

....bottles.

Wes had fun in the water.

Max and I had fun in the boat...once he got used to his life jacket.

Another first to put in the books.

Our Front Door

We have wanted to paint our front door ever since the white paint started peeling...a long time ago.  I wanted to do something a little modern, but nothing too crazy.  Our house is grey. See?

I have been in love with the combo of grey and yellow lately.
So I decided to go for it and bought some yellow paint - It's called aroma.  We{s} painted just the door so that we could make sure that it was what we wanted.  We{s} will end up painting the side window-thingys if we like it.  Wes is a fan, but I'm not so sure yet.

Best Loved Recipes {Easy Roasted Potatoes}

Judges: Wes and Abby

Rating

Even though there has been a shortage of Best Loved Recipe posts {which you probably haven't missed}, I have still been cooking away.

This recipe was just what the title claims - easy.  They were flavorful, seasoned perfectly and had a good amount of crunch on the edges.  I'm the girl who digs through her fries and nibbles off all of the crunchy ends.  I know Wes truly loves me because he gives me his super-crunchy fries instead of enjoying them himself.

Recipe
1 lb. (10-12) tiny new potatoes, halved
2 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/8 tsp. paprika

Place potatoes in a greased baking pan.  Combine oil and seasonings; drizzle over potaoes, tossing to coat.  Bake in a 325 degree oven for 45 minutes.  Stir potatoes; bake 10 to 20 minutes more or until potatoes are tender and brown on the edges.

Where's the Love? Wednesday {6.22.11}

What I'm loving this week...

Sneaking a peak through the window of Wes singing to Max.

Max saying goodbye to formula and saying hello to milk.
