Where's the Love? Wednesday {11.30.11}

What I'm loving this week...

Disclaimer:  I got a new lens for my camera and I haven't quite figured it out...some of the pictures are a bit blurry.

Max being mesmerized by the falling snow.

My one picture of Thanksgiving.  I'm blaming it on the fact that we spent a good amount of our time looking for my nephew's glasses.  After 3 days of looking, my dad found them at our cake shop.  Thank you Lord!

Max loving his cousin, Saniya.

Max's new pj's.  Last night he kept patting his legs and trying to kiss Elmo.

I'm really annoyed that I didn't round the corners on this picture.

I went dumpster diving and found this Sesame Street tool bench.

It's obnoxious and loud.  I'm so glad I didn't pay money for it.

What are you loving this week?  I would love to know!

Sorry, Fred

I went grocery shopping today.  I like going to the grocery store and I was especially excited because my dad had offered to watch Max.  I knew I could take my time and I even splurged and got a drink at Starbucks.

I shop at Meijer.  I love Meijer.  I have tried other stores, but it just doesn't feel like home to me.

So, with beverage in hand, I began my glorious adventure through the aisles...and then it happened...

I bumped the table that was holding a framed picture of Fred Meijer {you know - the founder of Meijer who just passed away} along with a book for people to write their condolences.  The frame's glass shattered into a gazillion pieces.

Sorry, Fred.

As a born and raised Michigander, I really do appreciate all you have done.

And because I felt so bad, I spent a-more-than-normal-amount at your store.

Where's the Love? Wednesday will return tomorrow.  Sorry to my mother-in-law for making you check your computer every 5 minutes to see if I had posted anything the last 2 Wednesdays...

Happy Thanksgiving

Taking a little time today to remember and praise God for all of the blessings He has given me.

I hope you are too.

If it's not too late...don't forget to save room for dessert.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Procrastinating Pumpkins

I'm a procrastinator.  I'm honestly not proud of it.  It causes tension with Wes {the king of doing everything in a timely manner}, tension with myself and I'm sure has made some others not very happy with me.

So I'm working on it.

Lazy hands make a man poor,
but diligent hands bring wealth.
Proverbs 10:4

For all of you other procrastinators, I want to challenge you to pick one thing right now to do.  Doesn't have to be anything major...choose something that will take about five minutes.  Maybe it's a phone call, or putting something away that you keep walking by and ignoring or maybe you need to go clean the toilet.  I mean it!  Get off your tush and go do something that you have been putting off.  Ready?  Go!!!

In the time it took you to do that five minute "thing" you have been putting off, I made these adorable pumpkins.  {I actually made them a couple of weeks ago, but it did only take that long.}

Well...not these.  This is a picture from the blog you go to for the tutorial.

I can't even take credit for finding this lovely tutorial on Pinterest.

She found it.

This was seriously one of the easiest and fastest projects I have ever done!  All you need is toilet paper, fabric, tissue paper or newspaper and a stick.

Here are my sweet little pumpkins!  Aren't they adorable?

Apple Carrot Smoothie

I'm always looking for ways to switch up Max's meals a little.  I get in ruts of feeding him the same thing over and over again...mainly for breakfast and lunch.  He eats {sometimes he just looks at it} what we eat for dinner.

I went to the library yesterday and got a cookbook called Toddler Menus.  I think I'm going to like it.  It  has recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  You can mix and match to make sure your child is getting the right amount of veggies and fruits.  I will not be the overachiever that fixes a whole day's meals from this cookbook, but I do love the layout.  The recipes are simple and the entire family can enjoy them.

I adapted the apple, carrot, orange juice recipe into a smoothie.  It was delicious!  The texture is more gritty than most smoothies, but the flavor was good and it kept me full for the entire morning....and Max loved it.

Apple Carrot Smoothie
serves 2-3
2 apples - peeled (I left some skin on), cored and chopped
5 baby carrots - chopped
splash of orange juice
3 dollops of greek yogurt

Mix in a blender.  You may need to add more orange juice or water to get it to the consistency that you want.

Does anyone else get stuck in a food rut for your kids?  What do you do to get out of it?

Baby Leggings

I won another giveaway...this time over at A Punk, a Pumpkin and a Peanut.  I don't even remember how I stumbled across her blog, but I really enjoy it.  It's become one of my new favs...

Carina and her husband are in the process of adopting for a second time and this post was very encouraging to me.

Back to the giveaway...

I won two pair of baby leggings from Degigle.  As you know, there are no baby girls in this house, but the next best thing would be to do this....

I couldn't help myself and I laugh every time I look at this picture.

You should seriously check out Degigle's etsy shop!

What Max Loves

Max loves to make messes these days...

...with dry oatmeal that his mama gave him to distract him from the fact that he was starving...

...with the bowls in the corner cabinet..

...and at our friend's house while he should be taking a nap.

On the bright side:  Max is getting really good at picking up after himself.

Where's the Love? Wednesday {11.9.2011}

What I'm loving this week {Georgia addition}...

Max's sleeping position in the pack-n-play.

Our trip to the orchard.

I taught Max to plug his nose and then I say P-U.  {I know...we don't get out much.}  Sometimes he gets confused...

Now he's got it.

Seeing Uncle Matt.  This was the first time Matt held Max on this trip, which is very evident by the look on Max's face.

Max's cool shades.

Four of my favorite guys.  My dad flew down {smart guy} to do a little golfing with Wes and Matt.

My dad and Matt watching Max so that we could go out for our anniversary.

Unfortunately...Wes' scallops had a little something-something extra in them that caused him to be able to experience them for a second time. ..if you know what I mean.  Wes gave new meaning to "puking your guts out".  TMI?  Sorry.

Max taking over the driving at 2 in the morning.

2,920 Days

That's how long we have been married.  8 years ago today I married the man I am so proud to call my husband.

Wes, I love you so much.

I love how you calm me down when I get spastic.

I love how good of a father your are to Max.

I love how you pick up the entire house while I clean the kitchen {mainly because I have cleaning ADD and it's the only way to keep me focused}

I love how you love me.

There are so many other reasons why I love you, but I won't bore the rest of the readers with my mushiness.

In true Abby-fashion, I waited until the last minute to purchase Wes' gift and to make this video....

Happy Anniversary, Wes!

Georgia {Aquarium}

On our way to visit my brother in Georgia, we stopped in Atlanta.  That break {even though it was near the end of our trip} was much needed.

We went to the Georgia Aquarium.  Max loves fish.   We know this because his favorite part of our grocery shopping experience is taking a ride by the dinky little fish tanks.

The Georgia Aquarium doesn't do dinky.

Our favorite part was the dolphins.  We loved them so much, I did't even take pictures.  {Not that taking pictures of any of these animals does it justice.}

We had so much fun {minus the meltdown at lunch while we were eating our outrageously expensive museum food}

Wes and I were prepared for this museum experience to be a waste of our money.  It wasn't.  We were there for three hours.  Max enjoyed it so much that 99% of my pictures are of his back side.

Looking forward to sharing the rest of our trip with you, but right now I need to clean up the explosion that is our bedroom.
