Potty Training

I said I was going to start potty training Max last Monday.
We haven't really started yet.

I know he is probably too young, but he has seemed so interested I thought I would give it a shot.
And with a baby hopefully coming in September, I thought it would be a good time to try.

We tried for 2 hours after nap time with no success.  I know that it won't happen that quickly.  I just wasn't up for it.

Maybe next week.

I would love for you to share your potty training tips with me...the good, the bad and the ugly.

I have enjoyed reading all of the 10-4 Good Buddy posts.  You have until tomorrow night to get your questions answered.

  1. I would say, if you think he is ready, keep at it. Put him in big boy pants-not pull ups. It is more laundry, but it also connects the going, with discomfort, and then the need to go-much quicker than if you keep him in diapers. Put him on the toilet every hour for about 5-10 minutes max. When/if goes on toilet-whoop it up BIG TIME! If he wets his pants, just verbally remind him that you do this on the toilet. Putting their feet in warm water often mass them have to go. Again, it is teaching them the impulse thing. If you don't think he is ready, then put it on hold for a month or two, and retry. Don't try for a day, then not, then try again the next day. Mixed signals are not helpful. I don't think it is possible to train in a day, but if they are ready, you can have a pretty good pattern established in a week. It is you putting them on, not themselves just going to the toilet for quite a while. Anyway, I hope this is encouraging. Don't give up. Even when you are changing clothes for the 10th time in one day. Oh, and I've found, when I am potty training, that is about all that happens for the first week or so. And, I won't be offended if you think this is a bunch of bunk either.=)

  2. Great photo! Especially with your comment "He seems interested". (LOL) :D Kids are fascinated by everything except sitting still. :) Great post. I'm a new follower and happened upon this site from Barefoot Hippie Girl. Thanks for the smile. :)

I'd like to invite you to my "Layers of Fun" party at https://botanicalbalance.scentsy.us/Scentsy/Buy/Category/875

  3. Hey! I noticed your button on Carina's page and thought I would say hi! And, I'm glad I did! Love your blog! :) Barefoot Hippie Girl had some good ideas :-) Also throw in a ton of juiceboxes. Juice helps speed it up! Set aside a day (or 2) to not go anywhere. Really lol. just stay at home the whole day and go every 5-10 minutes. SOunds like a pain I know but just imagine the end results ;-) I will never forget getting to a point with our son where I was SOoooo ready to give up. It just didn't seem like he was getting it. but I stuck with it a little longer and he finally got it!!!!! He still isn't potty trained at night, 2 years later, but that I think just has to do with how hard of a sleeper he is. So, don't worry about that so much. just the daytime. Good luck!!!!

  4. No tips for you. I have been told training boys and girls are very different. C is very close to Max in age and *just* started showing interest in using the toilet. At least once a day, he pulls down his pants and needs "to go potty in the toilet" yet has not accomplished this. I figure, I'll support it and keep the words in the conversation.
